We heard you just locked your keys in your car, or maybe your dog accidentally did it. But that’s not a reason to look online to find a DIY or Hack to opening your car doors with a metal wire or other device. Doing this may leave scratches or worse.
Use Your App
There are some newer model vehicles that have apps that can be connected to your car, and if you’ve already done this, the app may be able to unlock your car doors. If you have an older vehicle that doesn’t have an app you are out of luck on this option. Some cars do have keys that have proximity sensors that won’t even allow you to lock your keys in your vehicle, this is a very helpful tool – but we know that not everyone has this option available to them.
When Should The Police Be Called?
Police don’t like to be bothered with these types of calls, and they may not even be able to assist you. You may just be referred to a locksmith by them. But if it’s a life and death situation – like a child or furry friend is in the car and it’s extremely hot out or extremely cold out, call the non-emergency line of your local police station.
Break A Window…
Not the ideal solution, but it is one solution we’ve seen people do. But in the overall grand scheme of things and in case of a life being in danger, replacing a window is a small price to pay. Be sure to break the window on the opposite side of the vehicle where the child or pet is, if at all possible.
Who Should I Call?
If you happen to have a spare key and are in a location where you can get that, try that first. If that still doesn’t work, you call always call a Locksmith as they usually have the tools available and can provide this service.
